A new study showing that adding chiropractic care to standard medical care for acute low back pain is more effective than utilizing standard medical care alone. Standard medical care usually consists of anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, pain suppression drugs, and bedrest. This should come as no surprise as chiropractic adjustments correct the cause of most back pain, eliminating pressure and irritation on nerves, joints and muscles, while medications only cover up symptoms.

Conclusion. The results of this trial suggest that CMT in conjunction with SMC offers a significant advantage for decreasing pain and improving physical functioning when compared with only standard care, for men and women between 18 and 35 years of age with acute LBP.
